How to Manually Install/Reinstall an Oprating System, Using SolusVM for Custom built Installation?

The option of SolusVM Auto Reinstall doesn’t allow you to alter or create a custom partition but you can physically install an Operating System by following these subsequent directions:

1. Login to your SolusVM cPanel.
2. If you have multiple VPS, choose the appropriate 1.

3. Scroll down, and under the “settings” tab, change the Boot Order to “(1) CDROM (2) Hard Disk”.

4. Now click on the “CDRom” tab and if the CD-ROM is already mounted, click on unmount and then select your operating system from list. Then click on “Mount”.

5. Reboot your VPS by just clicking on “Reboot” and it will display a confirmation window. Then click on “Yes”.

6. Now quickly click on VNC without waiting.

7. The new VNC page will open. Click on “Java VNC Client” or on the “VNC” button.

8. It will prompt for confirmation. Click “Ok” or “Continue” and it will show “Security Warning”. Accept it and click on “run”.

9. Most operating systems will ask you to “Click any button to start OS Installation” while booting. You just need to press any key on your keyboard when asked and the OS Installation/Reinstallation will start. It may also display you an field like “Install OS”, “Test this media”. For OS Installation/Reinstallation you need to select “Install OS” and press the enter button.

Once the installation starts, it will ask you to create partitions, set root/admin passwords, etc, while setting up the OS.

After installation is completed, don”t forget to set your VPS Boot Order to “(a) Hard Disk (b) CDROM”, or else it will reboot your VPS and instead of normal mode it will start in installation mode.

 

 

How to Remove an Add-on Domain?

1. Log into your cPanel account.
click on the “Addon Domains” icon, In the “Domains” section.

3. place the addon domain beneath “Modify Addon Domain” and then click on the “Remove” link.

4. Press once again on the  “Remove” button.

You will receive a success message notifying you that your Add-on domain has been completely removed.

How to Turn APIC, ACPI, VNC or PAE On or Off in SolusVM?

You can enable or disable VNC, PAE, APIC, and ACPI in SolusVM.

1. Firstly login to your SolusVM Control Panel.

2. If you have multiple VPS, then select the proper one.

3. Scroll down,  you can find APIC, ACPI, VNC or PAE under the “settings” tab. If you want to turn off VNC, from the drop-down choose the “Off” OSC option which located under the VNC option.

4. Reboot your VPS after making any changes (on/off), .

How to Change the Network Card to Virtio, Intel PRO or Realtek in SolusVM?

If you want to turn your network card to any other network card.For example, from Realtek to Virtio or Intel Pro.
1. Login to your SolusVM Control Panel.

2. If you have various VPS, choose the proper one.

3. Scroll down, and beneath the “settings” tab, you can get the “Network Card” option. Choose the proper network card from the Drop-Down Menu.

4. Reboot your VPS.

How to Change the Disk Driver to Virtio or IDE in SolusVM?

You can change the Disk Driver to Virtio or IDE before installing the operating system but should you change this after installing the OS, it will show an error that the disk is not found or a similar error. Only change this before Installing/Reinstalling the OS.

1. Login to your SolusVM Control Panel.

2. Select the appropriate one if you have multiple VPS.

3. Scroll down, and you can find the “Disk Driver” option under the “settings” tab. From the Drop-Down Menu choose the proper Disk Driver.

4. Then reboot your VPS and you are ready to install/reinstall your OS which will use your selected disk driver.

How to Change Hostname for Reference Purpose in SolusVM?

For reference purpose, you can change the hostname in SolusVM.

1. Firstly login to your SolusVM Control Panel.

2. Select the appropriate VPS if you have multiple VPS.

3. Scroll down, and beneath the “Hostname” tab, Enter your hostname in the text box under “New Hostname” and click on “Change”.

4. Reboot is not essential as the hostname is only changed for reference purposes.

Some example hostnames:
server1.xyz.com
hostingserver.xyz.com

How to Access Your VPS via VNC in SolusVM?

You can access your VPS via VNC in case of emergency such as when your IP is blocked by a firewall, the Internet connection is not working, you are unable to access your VPS via SSH or for OS Installation/Reinstallation reasons, etc.

1. Login to your SolusVM Control Panel.
2. If you have multiple VPS, select the appropriate one

3. Scroll down and you can see a “VNC” option. Click it!

4. The new VNC page will open. Click on “Java VNC Client” or on “VNC”.

5. It will prompt for confirmation. Click “Ok” or “Continue” and it will show “Security Warning”. If it looks OK, accept it and click the “run” button.

6.The VNC Area will resemble the following screenshot:

Note: You will need to white-list our VPS control panel domain in your Java Security List, if you get any errors like “Java Blocked”. Then it will display “Java plugin not installed”, after which you can install the Java software on your computer.

 

 

How to Enable/Disable 2D/3D Acceleration or turn the Video Card type in SolusVM?

You can change the video card type to VGA, Cirrus, etc or you can Enable or Disable 2D/3D Acceleration in SolusVM.

1. Firstly login to your SolusVM Control Panel.

2. If you have multiple VPS, select the appropriate one.

How to Change the Video Type?
1. Scroll down, and beneath the”Video” tab, change the type from the drop-down menu to the proper video type and then reboot your VPS.

How to Enable the 2D/3D Acceleration?
1. Scroll down beneath the “Video” tab, and choose the option “Off” from the drop-down menu, if you want to Disable the 3D Acceleration. From the drop-down menu select the “Off” option. If you want to enable it, choose the “On” option from the 2D/3D Acceleration.

2. Reboot your VPS.

Note: Virtualization like KVM does not support 2D/3D Acceleration on some operating systems.

Step to change root password of VPS from SolusVM panel?

By using SolusVM you can easily rewrite the root/admin password of your VPS Operating System

1. Firstly login to your SolusVM Control Panel.

2. Select the appropriate VPS  if you have multiple VPS.

3. Scroll down, and click on “Change” under the “Root/Admin Password” tab.

4. It will prompt for a confirmation then just click on “Yes”.

5. It will take some time to change the password and then it will display it. Have a copy of the password in the notepad.

How to Change the VNC Password in SolusVM?

You can rewrite the VNC password by using SolusVM.

1. Login to your SolusVM Control Panel.

2. If you have multiple VPS, select the appropriate one.

3. Scroll down, and enter your new password in the VNC text box under the “VNC Password” tab then click on “Change” option.

4. It will prompt for a confirmation. Click “Yes” and then reboot your VPS.

How to Place a Domain in cPanel?

Note: Before placing a domain, First you need to update name server of your domain you want to place to your main domain name server.

1. Log into your cPanel account.

2.click on “Aliases” Icon, In the “Domains” section

3. Beneath “Create a New Alias” you should enter the domain name you want to place in the text field.

4. Click on the button “Add Domain”.

You should see a success message that your Domain is placed Successfully.

How to Remove Parked Domain name in cPanel?

1. Log into your cPanel account.

click on “Parked Domains” Icon, In the “Domains” section.

3. Beneath “Remove Aliases”, locate the parked domain name and click on the “Remove” link.

4. For confirmation, you may need to click on the “Remove Alias” button over again.

How to Shutdown Your VPS Forcefully or Gracefully Using SolusVM?

1. Login to your SolusVM Control Panel.

2. If you have multiple VPS, choose the appropriate 1.

3. Just scroll down and you will see a “Shutdown” option. press it!

4.It will display a confirmation window. press on “Yes”.

5.It may take a few seconds or a minute and if the VPS is shut down, it will show a message, notifying you.

For forceful shutdown, you can click the “Power Off” option in SolusVM.

6.How to shutdown your VPS via the Command Line?
(This option is similar to pulling the power cord from your computer and there is a chance for loss of data.)

1. Login to your SSH Client.
2. Enter the command “poweroff” (without the quotes).

Once you execute this command, your VPS will shut down instantly.

How to Reboot/Restart Your VPS Using SolusVM?

Restart your VPS, you can do it through the Command line or SolusVM.

How to reboot/restart your VPS via SolusVM?

1. Login to your SolusVM Control Panel.

2. If you have various VPS, select the proper one.

5. It can take some seconds or minutes and when your VPS reboots, it will show a message, notifying you.

6. How to reboot/restart your VPS through Command Line?

Reboot your VPS through command line its best method of rebooting because it will first stop all processes and then initiate the reboot.

1. Login to your SSH Client.
2. Enter the command “shutdown -r now” (without the quotes)

once you done with the command, it can take some time and then your VPS will reboot.If still your VPS does not display online after 5 to 10 minutes, we suggest you to reboot your VPS from the SolusVM (the so-called force reboot).

How to Change the SolusVM Control Panel Password?

We always recommend to use a complex password and change it randomly after a couple of days. you can easily change the password from a solusVm control panel.

1. Login to your SolusVM Control Panel.
2. If you have multiple VPS, select the appropriate one.

In the Top Bar Menu, click on “My Account”.

4.”Change Account Password” Write the following details:
Current Password: Please write Your current SolusVM VPS Control panel password.
New Password: Please enter Your new password.
Repeat New Password: Again Reenter your new password.

5. Click on “Update Password”.
